Air-Entraining Agents for Concrete

Image182Air-Entraining Agent, or “AEA”, is used in poured concrete to cause the incorporation of very tiny air bubbles.  These are bubbles increase the concrete’s resistance to degradation caused by freeze and thaw cycles.

AEA is not effective in zero-slump concrete such as is used in interlocking concrete pavers, architectural block, or segmental retaining wall.  These mixes have to little water to effectively form the tiny bubbles (“good air”).

ICT’s AEA is used by our precast customers to increase the durability of their product.
